VCF Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Beach Access Project

Saturday, December 5th, 2009, the Venice Canals Foundation held their annual raffle and the Ground-Breaking Ceremony for the Venice Beach-Venice Canals Coastal Access Path. Designed by landscape designer Zack Freedman and spear-headed by committee chair persons Maxine Leral and Rhonda deVictor, the VCF project has been in planning/permitting for a couple of years. The project will landscape the empty dirt lot (owned by the City of LA) between 2500 Pacific and Strongs Drive.

And the raffle winners were … 1st prize of $750 went to Canals resident and VCF boardmember Marianne Wisner who graciously donated the money to VCF; 2nd prize of $500 went to Kathleen Widen of Chino Hills and 3rd prize of $100 went to Grant Riley of Century City.

Over 75 people attended the function including Michael Espinosa of City of LA, Kara Kemmler of Coastal Conservancy and Councilman Bill Rosendahl.
