Same thing happened to my husband and I about a week ago. The guy described above, saw that we were in our yard, gave us a somewhat convincing story that he lives across the canal, pointed to a house, said he broke his key in the door and needed $14 to pay the locksmith on Abbott Kinney, to fix it. He proceeded to protest, “hey I work at Abbotts Habbit, you can ask the owner”, and listed names (none of which I recognized) of neighbors he’d asked. So I said to him; “You know what, seeing that you are a neighbor, I’d be willing to help you out and take the $14 directly to the locksmith.” Sure enough, instead of being thankful, he said “ah why do you need t be that way”. Said he’d talk to the locksmith to see if he could do it that way(?) And said he’d get back to me. Of course never came back. I’ve seen this one in many different forms before and recognized it right away. Apparently this guy has done this to many of us on the Canals. Thank you to the VCA for putting this on the website to help warn and inform the neighborhood residents of what’s going on in the Canals.

Walk bridges look great (especially the one in the picture being painted by my old home) well as the Dell Ave. over Sherman Canal! Fantastic job by the painting crew.
Glad to still be part of the VCA even if it’s from a little distance away. H.

Wow. “Row-In Movie on the Canal” was great last night! I LOVE movies outdoors at night, and since we live on the Canals it’s double cool to see them screened on the water. Plus I thought it was so cool that it was simulcast on 88.7 radio station. Made the sound even better! Can’t wait for CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON on the 22nd. Thanks to everybody who helps put this together for all to enjoy.
